Did You Ever Wonder Where the Term “Christmas in July” Came From?
Let’s face it…we all know that Christmas is in December so what marketing guru thought up the idea to celebrate Christmas in July? Actually, it was retailers in North America who were looking for a clever way to satisfy our craving for cooler weather during the hottest month of the year, while offering great deals, festivities, and a reason for the season! Another, more believable, definition also has to do with the weather. When it’s summer in America it’s winter in Australia. Since Christmas and winter/snow is synonymous, Australians have a Christmas-like celebration in July, hence the term
At Normandy Farm, we have added our own creative twist to “Christmas in July” that we affectionately refer to as “Season’s Heatings”. Why not celebrate the warmth and lazy days of summer all season long with outdoor beer & barbecues? Next Thursday (July 19th), the Grand Garden at Normandy Farm will be heating up for Jazz on the Vine, featuring wine tastings, jazz music, and a clam bake. If you are looking for a “Silent Night”, we’re offering discounted hotel rooms with your ticket. If you were expecting eggnog, wassail, or mulled wine, you may have to wait for the real holiday season because next Thursday’s bar menu includes fabulous local wines by Trinchero Family Estates; Seaglass Pinot Grigio, Bieler Pere et Fils Rose, Charles & Charles Cabernet Blend, and Trinity Oaks Pinot Noir. We will however, be serving Normandy Farm’s version of “the Feast of Seven Fishes” including clams, mussels, salmon kabobs, shrimp, seafood stew, and more…hint: early Christmas gifts are trending.
After the music stops and you’ve drank the last drop , it’s time to slip back into reality and get back to work. We have more great deals for you including discounted meeting packages, team building activities, and early holiday party booking incentives through the end of August.
