Small but Mighty Weddings, Overcoming the Pandemic

Maybe you’ve been dreaming about this day as far back as you can remember. Maybe you’re recently engaged and never considered what the day might look like. Maybe the day you’ve been counting down to was suddenly postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. No matter what stage of wedding planning you’re in, know that you have options; and while the day might not be grand in size, it will without a doubt be the most memorable day your life.

This spring to summer 2020, we’ve seen a high increase in Minimonies, Sequal Weddings, and Micro Weddings. What is the difference, you might ask?

A Minimony is just how it sounds: a mini ceremony. The experience can be in-person or virtual and usually includes an officiant and no more than 10 guests. There is an exchange of vows, simple florals, a small wedding cake, and a photographer, if you so choose. If the grand celebration has been postponed, the minimony typically is planned on the initial date of the wedding, so that the couple can solidify their marriage as planned.

The Sequel Wedding refers to the wedding that you originally intended, following the minimony. This event allows you to bring all of your wedding elements to life. In today’s day and age, there are no rules. Host one or multiple weddings, and be confident that you deserve it all.

You may have heard of Micro Weddings prior to the pandemic. They have been trending for years, and for good reason. Today, they are quickly rising in popularity, depending on how comfortable millenial couples, their family and friends are with travel, overnight stay, and of course... government restrictions. Micro weddings are stereotyped to save money, but in actuality, today many couples choose to maintain their budget while dropping their guest list to 50 or less. It allows them to provide an incredibly luxurious experience for those nearest and dearest. Here are a variety of ideas to create an extravagant wedding on a small (guest list) scale:

  • Purchase the designer wedding dress you saved on Pinterest, or better yet add in a separate ceremony or reception dress for the added “wow” factor.

  • Design custom invitations with handmade paper in elegant colors with wax seals.

  • Work with an event design company ie: Willow & Thistle to create over-the-top floral arrangements, draping greenery, stunning ceremony arches, tablescapes, chiviari chairs, wooden farm tables, crystal stemware, and more…

  • Is there a photographer on Instagram that you can’t stop scrolling through? Book them! Our in-house celebrity photographer Tyler Boye & award winning team with Hitched Productions not only offer photography, but videography and DJ services. | @hitchedbytbp

  • Offer your guests premium bar selections, a vodka ice luge, a martini bar, or add a fun outdoor element like Bubbles & Brews vintage mobile truck and serve champagne on tap.

  • Location is key. Choose from our 10+ indoor and outdoor spaces which are stunning alone, yet breathtaking with the extra touches.

  • Enhance your guest’s menu for cocktail hour or sit down dinner with a live action sushi station, a bacon bar, surf & turf duo entrees, or a late night breakfast bar,

  • Take care of the overnight stay expenses and create a wedding weekend experience for all of your guests.
